From Darkness to Dawn” Marcia Orcutt Book Description: We have our own depressions. These may come along with and in forms of anxiety, severe sleep disturbances, suicidal thoughts, mood swings, an inability to concentrate and irritability. Grab a copy of this book and worry no more as you may find your way to the dawn of truth, meaning and happiness. You just have to hurdle the climb. “From Darkness to Dawn,” centres on the struggles one passes through with an overwhelming initial conviction of hopelessness. The understanding is similar to that of being trapped in one’s inner world wherein choices and alternatives are so uncertain and success borders on impossibility. As Marcia Orcutt purports, her major struggle is that her heart allows her to take a step forward but then her fears step in and tell her to pull back. This drives her to withdraw and instead initiates denial of what is going on inside. Consequently, she fashions diversions, one of which is alcoholism, which instead of addressing her issues, added more injuries. Hence, the ghost of the darkness continue to haunt her. Life starts to seem miserable as the darkness of uncertainty, anxiety and fear captivated her being. The dawn of hope unfolds as she realizes that acceptance springs from herself, which extends to others and ultimately to God, whom she deems is always there for a rescue from her torments and imperfections of life. With this, she carries her baggage and heads on toward the imminent ray of hope and healing. She committed herself to it. It was not solely for herself but equally for her loved ones as well. How did she do it? She learns to trust people again. She acknowledges the role of others in her healing process. Undeniably, these people do have roles to play and what is more necessary is that the same exude goodness that is much needed in her plight. Dr. Donald C. McNeil PhD, Fr. Jason Giombetti and Stephen Orcutt, her husband, are among these who shine upon her and altogether broaden that hope she has in a handy. They lead her to constantly discover the significant spectrum of healing that lies within her. They provide her with the avenue to find better choices, face realities and accept huge responsibilities. Thereafter, she learns to confront realities with her own strengths which are all too important in regaining herself so as to create a better and meaningful genuine existence. The idea is that amidst the darkness she is engulfed with, she still manages to be a light to others. Marcia’s courageous, creative, colourful and inspiring retelling of her story provide a way for people who are symptomatic of the same troubles in life. The way may be complicated. However, one is not precluded from creating her approach of dealing with her torments. This renders the work exceptionally worthwhile. Moreover, for one to be a spark that keeps other people’s candle burning, notwithstanding the experience of her being lit-off, is phenomenal. Indeed, this masterpiece of a brave soul, who takes the necessary steps of her climb and who still persevere to accomplish the sought after wisdom and healing is a must read. The inspiration and the message: Evidently, the author is an exemplar of inspiration. She sifted this from the love she has for her family and for herself. It is this love that begets trust. That without which she might not be where she stands at the moment. The message is very strong and equally relevant. Change and grow. The end may be uncertain but you have to go.
